Size (Bounding Box, assembled): 74.1mm x 32.96mm x 24.2mm
The 80-ton Arm Arder begins blurs the line between main battle tank and super-heavy tank. One of the largest MBTs in service, the Arm Arder’s size is simply due to the fact it had to be big enough to accommodate the largest pure-strains in its four-orc crew.
It would in fact be significantly heavier, if not for the highly advanced composite multilayer armour that the Fearcrushy is renowned for. The Arm Arder’s thickest armour and the front of the turret is rated to Tier 23 verses kinetic weapons and Tier 22 verses energy weapons, comfortably better than the Zirakthargûm Divinity’s Khâguard MTB, its nearest competitor as an unshielded MBT.
To drive such a larger tank requires an equally powerful engine and the Arm Arder has one, the Knokky-Farr BFE-1190 fusion engine, specifically designed for the Arm Arder’s power plant. The fusion engine, combined with the tracks (which are made of the same composites as the armour plate), allow the Arm Arder a surprising turn of speed, as well as the all-important acceleration and breaking required for entering and exiting hull-down positions.
The Arm Arder’s turret needs to draw on that power plant with advanced motors that ensure the heavy turret can swing to bear with sufficient speed.
Fearcrushy doctrine has roughly half of deployed Arm Arders fitted with mine ploughs, which themselves are hardened enough to make for quite dangerous improvised weapons with the weight of a fast moving 80-ton vehicle behind them.
The Arm Arder’s primary weapon is a Krag-Nark 260mm kinetic penetrator. Krag-Nark are the Fearcrushy’s leading manufacturer in railgun technology. The large calibre of weapon is in part due to the utilisation of the Fearcrushy torpedo technology. This allows the Arm Arder in, in addition to hurling a railgun slug up to five and a half kilometres, also use a light antimatter torpedo warhead. The larger size of the round means it can only reach about two kilometres, but is considerably deadly to any unshielded targets. Even so, the Arm Arder can only carry six of these torpedoes.
Mounted coaxially with the main gun are two rotary blasters. The triple mounts are placed one atop the other to the right of the main gun and provide anti-infantry support to 1500m.
To complete its armament, the Arm Arder carries dual Krag-Nark 30mm autocannons in a crewed turret for missile and drone defence (the same model as used on the Ardboy).
Perhaps surprisingly, given the relative simplicity of orc technology, the Arm Arder has a full sensor suite, though its range is only 800m. Nevertheless, this allows it to both act as a designator for missile armed vehicles or to use its torpedoes to for indirect fire.
The Arm Arder is relatively new, being introduced in 2335, followed shortly afterwards by the Ardboy. It has seen only limited action in that time, but has performed to expected standards. The most recently produced versions introduced in 2345 have several incremental upgrades and refinements, but not major changes have been necessary.
