Since the 10th generation entered service in the 2320s, the galaxy has seen an alarming rise in the number of advanced powers. The terrifying rise of the Lazerblasters, the return of Shardan, the re-appearance of the Strayvians in the form of the Strayvian Dominion, the doom-prophesised Yrgynela, the mysterious XGA01 incursion, the arrival of the United Concorde of Divine Realms – and even the sudden emergence of the GTSR. Almost all of these new threats are at parity with the Aotrs or above it, and far from occupying the top of the local galactic threat ratings, the Aotrs has seen itself be knocked into the top ten.
These new threats have caused a re-evaluation of Aotrs navy requirements, and it was determined that once more, a vessel capable of mounting superheavy weapons as required.
Thus entered the Winter Wraith Artillery Dreadnought, springing on to the scene in mid-2351. The largest vessel built by the 10th generation, the Winter Wraith echoes the fallen supercruisers, but at a size more suited to modern warfare.
The Winter Wraith is centred around the massive Class 200 spinal mount coldbeam. Previously only seen on supercruisers, this is a modern 10th generation version of the weapon. It has an accuracy envelope of 1.05 million kilometres and a power output of 4000TXq.
The main gun is backed-up by two 440TXq-rated and six 125TXQ-rated railcannons, giving fire over a similar accuracy envelope. Either side of the superheavy coldbeam are two Class 30 warhead launchers. An upgrade of the Class 30s used on the Terror and Midnight, these new weapons can fire bursts of three torpedoes or fifteen missiles each. A larger magazine holds 240 RZ-3A Razer missiles, 120 PV-2C Pulveriser missiles, 48 HE-2B Hecatoncheire torpedoes, 48 SL-5F Slaughterer torpedoes and 24 IM-2 Impairer warheads.
Sixteen coldbeam turret totalling 3480TXq output provide firepower at closer ranges. An energy beam cannon turret supplements the coldbeam at medium ranges. Numerous point-defence coldbeams with a combined out of 8100TXq and a point-ECM system complete the armament.
To protect its armament, the Winter Wraith is clad in an armour belt rated to 4400TXq, and has heavy shields, rated to 12600TXq.
It is unknown how may Winter Wraiths have been produced in the first batch, but as a specialist ship, it is not expected to be seen in large numbers.
